Finally, it was CNY holiday! Usually I don't give a damn on it... it is just another holiday! But since I came here, I redefined the word 'holiday'... This thing is just too precious to be wasted!

Went back home since 23rd and today, went to a flower exhibition in The Mines resort at Sri Kembangan. It was mom's idea, I don't really have a single thing for flowers. I wished to chop off those hectic flowery nightmare infront of my house planted by mom, and each time she told me to water the flowers, the flowers got to drink their own urine until mom got back. Oh, do they urinate?

What flower was this? I forgot.

Forgotten, too. T.T

USMKK Chinese New Year night 2009

Chinese new year night!

For those who don't know, this event was a tradition in our campus... held every year by 2nd year seniors, but performed by 1st year juniors. It is considered the biggest event in our campus, since it involved the people all around Kelantan, mostly.

I'll cut off the part where we practised out performance almost everyday before this big event and straight to some moments of this shiny event...

All these decorations, props and stuffs were started to prepare few months ago. Amazing right?

The night started around 7 p.m., but the guests started coming around 6 something. Basically those who were performing were pretty blur of what was happening out there, because we were all locked up behind the stage! @.@

A lion dance team from a nearby school was invited to fire up the event, and also to welcome the guests and V.I.P.s.

Ever heard of the cinema joke of Kelantan? Rumours said that there WAS a cinema in Kelantan! Then the government set 3 golden rules:

1. Audiences must stand straight and sing the national anthem prior of movie viewing;

2. Boys and girls separated; and the best of all...

3. Lights on during movie!

Then the cinema was closed down.

So the audiences were like sang the anthem before everything started...

First performance! Mongolian dance- great music, nice moves, a great start off of the night.

Comedy sketch! Personally I think they made it satisfactorily funny, when we watched their rehearsal. But most of the senior still grumbled. That's why, all of these comedians had their limits pushed.

Dinner! Come to think of it, a RM 10 ticket which included buffet dinner and performances, not to mention the props and all the tears and sweat from everyone involved in this event, was just too cheap. Too damn cheap.

Under the knife!

Writing this post at 11.53am on 1st July 2009, so I've no idea which block we were in, but I remembered that we had a hospital attachment, and my group was lucky enough to sneak into the operation theatre, hiak hiak hiak...

Before entering the theatre. *scissors*

My group member Ling. (eh your mask tercabut la)

We were told to wear operation cloth before entering. The surgeons wore green ones, while the helpers and *ehem* keh poh chis wore purple ones. Easily distinguished.

"You DON'T come in and out of the theatre ok? We emphasised on absolute sterility, so only 1 of you can be inside at any 1 time." We nodded, but somehow, all of us were inside later on...!

During the operation. There was a woman with a tumour at the right side of her cerebellum, so the surgeons needed various angle of her brain scan, like a map that shows the way into this little tumour.

Some views of the theatre. All the equipments were so damn expensive that their total cost might exceed the cost of a Perodua Kancil. The cost is equivalent, not the quality :)

The operation started at 11 something in the morning, after they properly anaesthetised and secured the patient. It was a pretty major and invasive operation- they had to first shave off half of the patient's hair, mark and cut open the affected scalp area, and expose the part of the skull. Since cerebellum is under the skull, they had to drill a hole to access to the tumour.

There was 2 types of surgery drills: big and small. The big one was for rough drill, while the small drills delicately around the intended area to get to the tumour.

So they were like grabbed the drill and "weeeeee~~~" drilled into the skull while the debris of the bone were flying everywhere like snowflakes!

One thing I had respect for the surgeons was they carried out the operation for 6 hours without stopping. By the time he said: "You guys may leave now. Leave! Before I change my mind!", it was already 4 something in the afternoon, and they had just finished clearing up the tumour.

Being a surgeon is my dream, but maybe not brain surgeon... made me thought of form 3 Kemahiran Hidup class, haha.

Why there isn't a movie theatre in Kelantan?!

Went to Tanjong Sepat with family. Was a fishing village in Selangor. Did not expect much but turned out that it is a pleasant place. By the time we reached there, it was already 3 p.m., so we went to Haw Yew Heng dumpling shop.

Looking for a place to sit down, chat and relax? Here.

Then went to a house that made and sold fish cakes and fish balls. Pretty typical like in other fishing village, think there are houses like this in Morib, if not wrong.

Later went to a so- called Couples’ Bridge (情人桥), which was actually a shaky log bridge at the site where fishing boats anchored. Man it was relaxing, haha.

Like this place a lot. Felt very inhabitable and comfortable. Geez sounds like a retiring old fart, haha.

Went to The Curve with Shyan and Mohan. Watched this.

Not bad gar... I mean very entertaining! Haha. Performs best on high stress people. One and half hour of laughter for RM 6, worth it. By the way, WILL.I.AM. is Moto Moto, the buffy hippo. No wonder it sounded so familiar.

After that since Shyan said he wants to buy some clothes, we walked around the mall.

Christmas is around the corner. Did they use this last year?

A forlorn christmas tree. If not because of the celebration, it is just another abandoned fake tree.

Quite a store. Found that shops in The Curve are a little unorganised, like shattered here and there. For forgetful people like me, the moment I stepped out of one shop, I would forget which shop I have stepped into before this, since most of the shops are not situated side to side, so you have to actually go and look for those shops.

Then we crossed the road and went to Ikano Power Centre.

Cold Storage. See the sign? I see this 20 minutes ago, haha.

Shyan just laughed uncontrollably when he sees this name, so I just entertain him by thinking that this is very funny, too.

Then we went to IKEA, which is situated just beside Ikano. When Shyan heard that I have never been there before, he was like: "What?! Out la you!"

2 mad people from nowhere. I do not know them. Haha.

Feel something out of this huge poster? I do. Always wish to pour some love to my younger sister, which does not exist.

Never know that there is such a nice cosy pet shop in KL. The Pet Safari.

Light outing

Yeah! Came back from Dullsville, going to enjoy a 10- days holiday! (Ang, you laughing again? =.=)

Woohoo~

Went to Leisure Mall in Taman Segar to watch a random movie with Ang and Mohan. So random until we watched this:

The initial reason of watching was because for the time from the point we bought the tickets until the show time, this one was the shortest.

By the time we stepped out from the cinema, my yawning mind still tried to think of the purpose of this movie. I got it:

Samuel Hong still can fight/ Ho yi da dak (Cantonese).

After the movie we chatted a little at A&W.

By the way, cut your hair la, Ang. Looked like a bird nest, almost. Haha.

So pathetic... made a little noise on a birthday party and got scolded. He's lucky we did not get crazy and play some creamy game, or else he might get so angry until he has a heart attack.

Dobi

Been raining quite often here for the past 2 weeks, and un- dried clothes in our hostel started to give out funny smell.

All of my clothes have been worn and not cleaned yet, not even a single clean underwear.

And exam is 12 more days to go!

Thanks to my smart roommate, I decided to give the Kedai Dobi just outside my campus a try. It just took a full day to turn my 1- week clothes into clean ones.

RM 8 = cleaned + folded clothes

Hmm overall the service provided is satisfactory, just that the price stung a little.

Oh my god I started to feel lazy already! =.=

Community placement

Finally, today we went for the oh- so- looked- forward community placement, which will be organised by every small group discussion of first year medical student. My group went to Yayasan Orang Kurang Upaya Kelantan or YOKUK. Our schedule:

9 am - Arriving YOKUK/ Watch introductory videos by YOKUK
10 am - Performance by us/ Games
11 am - Birthday celebration
12 pm - Lunch
2 pm - Interview with OKU
4 pm - Back

Basically it went well. After we performed by singing I Have A Dream, Kenneth said: "Did you see the look on those kids' face? As if they're forced to listen to us!" Well at least they did not close their ears la, so we assume we done great, haha.

The birthday cake, after some AEIOU games. It's specially for kids borned in November.

Hey Kiet, look, his phone is even better than yours. Hmm.

This guy was the only chinese in YOKUK. He looked perfectly fine, just that he had some problem in speaking.

Isabelle. Occupational therapist from Spain. She came all the way from Spain to Kelantan. So noble. Felt so small beside her, haha.

When we were tidying up the premis, all of the chinese in our group did this... Hmm whose idea was this? =.=

After the morning session we had a 2 hour break, and we had our lunch just across the road. As usual, only 2 or 3 stalls were opened in a huge food court. Maybe they left the empty spaces for cat- rearing.

After lunch, we paid a visit to the therapy room, specially designed and equipped with items to aid recovery of the impaired.

These light- emitting optic fibres was aimed to help those visually- impaired and also incapable in sensory touch, if not wrong.

Eh wake up lo, we got work to do.

After the visit, we resumed our activities for the afternoon session, which is interview with the impaired.

The first client my friends and I interviewed. He was actually fine, just light effect from cerebral palsy, which costed some of his speaking abilities. Well he looked ok though, having a wife and a decent job now, in this organization. What surprised me was that he studied electrical engineering last time, before he got infected. He deserved better I guess.

The second and third we interviewed. Honestly, I did not see any problems on the man, and he did not want to tell. Speaking disabilities for the woman. They did sewing work here to earn some living. By the way, the man is looking for his partner, he is perfectly alright actually, so anyone interested can contact me ya, haha.

Went back at 4.30 p.m.. Basically most of the disabled are still quite capable, so I think they deserve a decent job, according to their limits.

Compensation

Today we had our pratical on method to separate plasma protein by electrophoresis, that is using electricity to separate components of plasma protein in blood based on their different electrical charges. There were 24 groups of students in total, so first 12 groups did it first for today.

When we settled down and turned towards the scientist, he explained the method, and later he said:

"The fact is, we only provided 9 sets of materials. So you guys share among... "

How could this happen laaa?! So disappointing!

But I managed to get 1 set, heheh.

The above were the result of the separation. Notice that my separation column was shifted lower compared to Chun's.

This is because when I applied the plasma protein onto the agar plate, the plasmas were accidentally applied lower than the expected margin. Thus the plasmas diffused all along the way until they 'collided' with the printed numbers.

Since the resources were so scarce and everyone in my group was staring at me when I was doing the experiment, I was so anxious that it could not make it and that the plamas would diffuse out of the plate.

Luckily the plate was made to be much longer that needed. To compensate careless mistakes made by people like me, haha.

No matter what we do, we should consider also the compensatory action, in case mistakes occur. Isn't that wonderful?

Clock 2

But, what I really want to blog about is the Blue Bear clock. It was given by the students in my favourite class, 6B before I left the school. Honestly, this was one of the most practical present I ever received, especially when I am studying here.

For the past few months, this clock worked well. When it screamed, all 4 of us in the hostel room would jump and be wide awake.

But then, since I came back from Raya breaks, I found that this did not always happen anymore.

When I set my alarm for 7 am, I would find this clock beside me when I awake and it read 8.30 am.

That happened yesterday evening, when I plan to wake up from nap and jog at 6 pm, I found myself started to jog at 7 pm. But luckily, my friends Han, Ying, Jie and Xin were jogging too. So I decided to join them.

But I was actually on training, for the coming annual sports day. And my friends were jogging for leisure purpose, haha.

So I decided to jog myself after they went back to their hostels. Then, when we were about to part, Jie said:

"Since I am cycling, I accompany you 1 round la. You jog, I cycle."

So we were like run- cycling for a round. This was actually quite a good method of training, haha. Now I know why dogs run so fast, duh.

Anyhow, Jie, thanks for accompanying me ya!

Another precious sunny day.

Blue bear.

After finished sixth form, I was in a primary school in Kajang, in which I spent 6 months of my darkest life there as a temporary teacher, haha.

Everyday I woke up around 5.45 am and started to shudder at the thought of spending another day teaching those kids. During a normal Thursday, which was the heaviest day, what I did is:

7.10 am - Awoke from my slumber, grabbed the 六年级地方研究 textbook, teachers' guide and a rotan, sometimes a teaching aid (pictures, models etc.) and walked into class 6A.

8.10 am - Barely alive from answering those kids' bombarding questions like "How did the universe form?" and "Was humans from monkeys?" and slumped into my desk and started marking Bahasa Melayu exercise books. Think it's fun? Think twice.

Rare.

Always.

And you have to do it one by one, no matter how many wrongs, you have to pin it out and make sure that they do correction after returning the books to them.

10.00 am - The time when my adrenaline rush peaked and I felt like running away. Usually I would equip myself with some strings and tapes, and of course, the magical rotan. Then I would duly walk into class 4H (4Hantu?).

Then it followed with an hour of zoo- keeping and monkey- catching that pushed your mental endurance to the limits. Yes I was teaching Bahasa Melayu, but I would spend half of the time disciplining them. This was the toughest class to be controlled. Not only they were academically weak but also, disciplinary loose.

There was just too much to be disclosed. When I was teaching this class, there was never a day that I did not count down to the day I can finally enter university and leave this mess.

11.00 am - By this point I would not have much difference from a 死鱼 (sei yu).

But it did not stop there, I have to quickly jog back to my desk, grab 四年级地方研究 textbook and enter 4C. Then started asking: "How is your project going on? Any problem?" Then some kids would come up and feeding me with their ugly but diligent paintings and asked: "老师这样可以吗?" Then later on I had to tell them to settle down and start my lesson or else they would explode and scatter here and there...

Imagine doing these while you were exhausted!

12.00 pm - 5C 生活技能. I could only relax a little by this point, since the kids in this class was quite obedient and hardworking. But if you bring them to the working room, you would be shouting until you were so tired you crawled out of the school at the end of the day.

Then the bell rang at 1pm. The most beautiful sound in the world.

That was basically what I did in a normal Thursday.

5 days in a week.

6 months.

Of suffering!

Not entirely, though.

As a first year medical student, all of us are required to organise and visit a charity establishment nearby Kelantan. We need to plan activities to be carried out at that establishment of our choice and spend not more than RM 400. Some previous visits done activities like gotong- royong and sukaneka.

Contohnya.

So exciting.

Anyway, my group decided to go to Yayasan Orang Kurang Upaya Kelantan (YOKUK). As there was a period of free time right after the first lecture in the morning, me and 2 of the other group leaders drove to Padang Tembak to get approval and discuss details of the one- day- activity with the person in charge there, Puan Habibah.

After the first lecture ended, we went out around 10am, headed into some wrong directions, twisting and turning then finally reached YOKUK. The meeting went well and everyone was happy and anticipating.

We came back to lecture hall at 12pm.

Obviously, we missed Mr. Vitamin's lecture. So disappointing. By the time we reached lecture hall, the lecture just ended and people were walking around doing things.

It was like we woke up from a coma. Everything seemed unchanged, but changes actually took place, that is we missed Mr. Vitamin's lecture!

But I think it was for a good cause. For charity sake. And this was my first time missing lecture.

But why Mr. Vitamin's?!

Freshmen ball night

What a night!

Went to a ball night in Renaissance hotel. This event was actually to celebrate the success of moon cake festival, but it later turned out to be something like a course/ batch night. Most of the chinese freshmen turned up.

The ladies were in their best dress and put on full make up.

The guys were in their best attire, only that we need not to make up. Guys rock, haha!

Been there at around 8pm, then later started to dine at 6 floors above the ground. While the dishes were being served, some of our friends went up and sang. Funny, the dishes did not taste as good as it looked like anymore... But we really had a good time, heheh!

After the dinner came the climax. The soft music was on, and the couples held and hugged each other and swayed soothingly. Some were lowering and snuggling their heads into their partners' chest, some were closing their eyes and dance to the music ecstatically, some whispered softly into their partners' ears...

The mood was really there and we were enjoying every moment.

Actually, I did not really put in much expectation for this ball night, considering the social background of the locals and of the students at general.

Food hunt

Saturday. Like other day. Maybe a little different.

Skull. Only study it 1 month after the lecture by Prof. M. U.. You can run, But you cannot hide.

Going to organise our annual Buddhist society seniors' fairwell night at 8th January next year. As the coordinator, I had to go hunt for food with my committees for that night. So we decided to find the Kota Bharu Buddhists Association (K. B. A.).

Had lunch at a chinese shop near K. B.. Very nice, too bad in small portion.

The chairman of K. B. A. was very helpful. She understood our situation, that is lack of organising funds. So she said she will work something out and we agree to pay her what we can afford. Very nice people. But do not ever take advantage on nice people, remember. Thanks again, Sister Bi!

Back to campus at 3.30 pm.

Had drama practice at night. Not really practice, just some introduction of our roles and done some trials on our intonations.

Birthday deeds

Somebody's birthday again. Edwin.

Actually Edwin's birthday is on 24th Oct, and Li's birthday is on 25th Oct, so we planned to celebrate both of their birthday this morning. But Li absent, so we switched to plan B, by wasting a birthday cake on Edwin. Haha.

This time was at Murni cafeteria.

... lack- of- entertainment symdrome. A happy victim.

Great expectation

Went swimming this morning. When I was having lunch at Kebun Sultan, my phone rang.

“ 忠扬啊，你等下大概四点多五点搭车来我家咯，我有煮到饭。”
“ 哦，姑姑啊！我...”
“ 你最迟五点到啦，不要太迟哦！你有什么事吗？”
“ 我可能要去跑步哦...”
“ 不要去跑啦！今天你有一个外国的表姐会回来，过来一起吃咯！”
“ 哦，我不是很记得怎样去你的家哦...”
“ 不要紧，你来KB Bus Station，我教你怎样走。”
“ OK 啦...”

Then she hung up.

So my aunt invited me for dinner at her condo, at first I was pretty reluctant, since I planned to jog in the evening, but she is my only relative in this place, and I actually felt very excited to hear her voice, what to do?

At 4pm, I waited at the bus station beside the dental school in my campus.

No bus.

At 4.45pm, I walked outside and flagged down a taxi. The driver said bus drivers are lazy at Fridays. I thought that they are always lazy?

So I reached my aunt's house and we had dinner at the round table. Yeah~

Then one by one, the other relatives arrived her condo and atmosphere started to heat up.

One of my uncle introduced me to others by saying something like: " This is the grandson of... He is studying medicine... "

My aunt introduced most of them to me, one of them was my cousin. His name is Paul and his wife called Ming Zhu. When my aunt said I am studying medicine, Ming Zhu started: " Ohh... "

When I asked for their name, Ming Zhu told me and added: " It is alright not being able to remember your name, as long as we call you doctor, haha! "

Then...

" How do you memorise all the names of those medicines? "

" Is psychology considered as medical field also? "

" Usually nurses will court and marry doctors, how about you? Haha! "

But overall, I really like them. For a very long time in my time, I never knew that I have these relatives who reside near the border of Thailand. They were really nice and made me really feel like home. And, they really hope that I can be a doctor.

But they might have overrated doctors. Doctors are also normal human beings who do not necessarily know everything. I actually felt pressurized after listening to them.

But I felt energized also. These days I had been feeling pretty down and exhausted... Those never ending notes. I am not born to eat up these notes all day long!

I admit, that I had been a little off the course these days. Not really studying, but finding some excuses to escape myself. I had lost my goal for awhile, yes. My mind and flesh was acting against and procrastinating my studies. I just did not feel like studying at all!

But deep down, I know that I have to do it, by hook or by crook. I must continue this battle! Everyone and myself wants this to happen!

Now, I feel so inspired, I have so much energy spilling out of my body!

When my aunt sent me back and passed the guard post, she said to the guard: " Hantar anak! "

I knew that she said that out of convenience, but I was so touched at the moment that I felt like hugging my aunt. Why did not I go to her condo earlier?

I was so lucky. Thank you aunt. And thank God.

Obligation

Sometimes, I found that obligation is a little troublesome and tiring. For me, if you promised to do a thing, you are obliged to do it, under any circumstances, provided some very unlikely exceptions. Maybe promise is a form of love, and sweet and tantalizing bond, for a good thing that should happen in the future.

But obligation is a form of constriction. Of which you should not avoid.

Actually both are not to be ignored. Only that obligation involves deeper consideration.

Its like you promised to help some friends, but are not obliged to give your life while helping them.

Went to the Christian Fellowship yesterday night. Very relaxing and enjoyable. Started by singing and singing, then a session with Mic, the preacher.

He touched on certain things on Buddhism, of which I did not really agree. But anyway I could not care much, since people have their own opinion.

And the reason I went there?

A promise. With a friend. And she was not there yesterday.

Today 2 of my friends, Alex and Sheng is going back to their home for the weekend, which are Malacca and Kulai repectively. Alex said he needs some break, Sheng did not tell me his intention to visit home, but is something good. Maybe he is going for a blind date, heheh. Just kidding, buddy :)

Felt pretty envious of them. I agree with what one of my friends said: "The end of a holiday marks the beginning of the anticipation of the coming holiday."

Friday. Tomorrow going back to Dullsville.

Went to Sunway Pyramid with my friends. It changed so much that I had a hard time finding the underground car park. Actually, yesterday, both my ex- colleague and my friend asked me for an outing.

Both said Sunway Pyramid.

But my ex- colleague, Phei said she wish to play in the water. And my friends said go for movies. And frankly, I did not really feel like playing in the water. Not in the mood. So I told Phei about this and she agree to go with me and with my friends anyway. Since I have not seen them for some them, ooo, looking forward.

Love wide and artistic corridors. Nice.

So my friends were having bowling session when we met.

But Phei said she does not want to meet and get to know my friends. She wanted to stay outside the bowling centre and walk around while I meet my friends.

I guessed she might be too shy so, nevermind. Shyan, Rui, Chung, Hoi and Yong were there. So we agreed to go for lunch after I take the booked tickets from the ticket counter. We were all starving. So I went to buy 2 movie tickets for Phei and me.

When my friends came out from the bowling centre and going for lunch, I thought it was more appropriate and tried to introduce Phei to my friends. She was mumbling something like:" Harrr, no need to be so formal laaa..." and reluctantly followed me as I introduced.

I thought that was cute.

Shrugged. We went to a fast food corner called Subway where they sell only sandwiches and fillings choosen by yourself. We were busy discussing which fillings were better and tastier and Phei, to me:

"You guys eat la, I don't want to eat."

Then she walked out of the restaurant and vanished. Like hide and seek. Only that I did not agree to play and no time limit was set.

So after we finished our sandwiches, we walked out and to the theatre, and there she was. I felt something and asked her:" Are you alright? You look moody." "Nothing laa. I'm fine!"

Ok you are fine. But what was that refusing to enter the theatre when I said we were going to a movie, Phei?

"I don't want to watch movie lehhh... I'll walk around and wait for you guys laaa. You bought the ticket? No you are kidding! Haha... You really bought it? Aiyo..."

At that point I felt a little frustrated already. So I persuaded her, told her that this movie was really nice, many people said so... :

... and in fact this was one of the lousiest crappy so-hai movie I had ever watched. Typical American hi- tech monster busting action packed movie about the whole command system of the Pentagon being controlled by an evil mind and she can do anything, including derailing a train and dispatching any hi- tech weaponry at her own will. Her aim was to assasinate the top officials of the White House and these 2 poor souls were the main manipulated people to carry out this task.

Why doesn't she kill the President directly?

Anyway, after those lies she agreed to enter the theatre and watch the movie.

After watching the President being failed to be assasinated and these 2 fellows were awarded some medal, we decided to go to Red Box.

The receptionist told us that it was RM 17 each, RM 7 if we produce student card. At first I felt like paying it already, then Phei, to me:

"Too expensive laaa! i don't want to sing laaa, you guys sing laaa..."

Funny, I did not feel like singing anymore, too.

So my friends went inside while me and Phei stroll around the shopping mall.

Sunway Lagoon. Too bad not in the mood.

Forgotten the last time me and my family went for a watery outing here. Found that there was a new hunted house here, forgotten its name but looked quite promising.

It was too late when we finished our movie, so we decided to miss this today. Sigh.

We had dinner at Yip's Kitchen. Not bad, but in small portion. Like food in Kelantan. But better than Kelantan laaa.

Then we parted. So much for my 1- week break in KL.

After fetching her home, I met her beautiful 5- year old niece and she did not change, still lively as usual :)

And Phei did not change also, because I've used to her behaviour already. But next time, I will think twice before agreeing to take a female friend out when I am going to meet my best buddies. No offence.

The best thing was, my friends promised each other to go clubbing for the coming December break! Definitely is one thing to look forward! :D

Meet

Today went to Times Square with a special friend of mine for movie. This one:

The moment some funny preluding musics started, I sensed something wrong. And the moment Meryl Streep started singing and dancing, I started to think: 'Oh man I shouldn't have step into here. Should have bring my mom instead of...'

So for the next 2 hours I was like yawning and scretching and tring hard to keep my eyes open. I thought of things like: 'Did I lock my car? Should I call my friend awhile?' while Amanda Seyfried was kissing and singing with her boyfriend.

In Kelantan, we are down right to earth.

Then later we walked around and went to Pavilion instead. Had some 珍珠奶茶 which was equivalent to 2 bowls of shimmering pan- mee. Duh.

After that we went strolling around this city centre. It was evening and getting dark. A man in 40s suddenly appeared from nowhere and ask:" 老板要小姐吗?" And I actually answered:" 不要。" Please la, why was everyone's timing always this perfect???

Oh ya, today was Hari Raya. Everyone can eat easily. Everyone is happy.

But still, things happened, as usual. It was as though I was supposed to have these kind of things to happen on me every outing or else my day would not be complete. The moment we stepped into the carpark, I found that

I have forgotten where my car is.

Sigh, what the fuck. We actually went around in the car park and trying to locate my car like some mad people. Walking and squinting while we went rounds and rounds and pressing on my car alarm...

I was sure that some datuk or nenek will laugh their ass out if they see me. "Hey grandson did you see my glass(brain)?"

So alhamdulillah I found my car at a secluded spot after 30 minutes, just beside the exit we used. Great. I felt like crying out loud.

Been thinking a lot of things when I walked and my friend was following behind me. It was extremely embarassing and awkward since I could not ask my friend to wait aside while I search for my car, because that was too dangerous. And I definitely did not wish her to follow me around this freaking car park at 9 something at night. There goes my face. I was really fucked up, man.

When we finally reached her home, it was around 11pm. Had not even take my dinner.

I swear I will memorise the bloody parking number like how I memorise my notes next time. Damn.

In the afternoon, I cooked something like this:

Ultimate blurness

I admit that I am really blur, but I have no idea to what extent my blurness extends. Until tonight.

I took KTM from Kajang to Kepong, to attend my coursemate’s barbeque party at her house. By the way her family members are all very pleasant people. :)

Then when it was time to ciao, she sent me to the KTM station in Kepong. We were chatting and laughing when a commuter train rushed by. So she shouted: “Hey is that your train? Faster go! Go! It’s moving!”

So me being not very familiar with KTM and its direction straightly jumped into the train. And the journey resumed.

And my nightmare starts.

Later I found that this train goes to the direction of Rawang, which is the opposite direction of my destination, Kajang.

I was like going to jump up into the sky. All that I thought of that moment was: ‘Is there a bench big enough in Rawang KTM for me to sleep on?’

Haha.

Then I dropped at Sungai Buloh, and try to flag down a car for me to hitch hike, while a taxi driver 100 meters in front gloating at my fate and waiting.

He won. At 12.15 am, I paid him RM20 to get me to KL and asked my dear aunt to fetch me there. My aunt reached there in time and took me all the way back to Kajang, in which she lives too. Not only that, she also passed me some tong- sui she cooked and some rice and egg as my supper.

One more thing I thought of tonight: Blood is thicker than water. How bitter.

Survival attempts

Being alone at house during your 1 week holiday can be good or bad.

Good:
1. Go out with friends until 3am without a noise.
2. Use my sister's modem directly to surf the net.
3. Finish up all my sister's biscuit.
4. Walk naked to the kitchen after bathing.
5. Being able to watch your favourites and not hokkien soap opera in the evening.

Bad:
1. Do your own laundry.
2. Settle your own meals.
3. Required to water the plants.

Basically that is what I do during this break, while my family went oversea to visit my big bro.

Pavilion

Today me, Shyan and Mohan went to Pavilion, then we met Hoi there. Went for the movie Painted Skin.

Nice and simple. And Zhou Xun is really beautiful.

One thing I really like about Pavilion was its immaculate architectural design. A lot of space to move around, not to mention sufficient resting areas.

Then we had dinner at a street full of hawker stalls. Forgotten its name. The funny thing is I found that food in KL, although expensive, is still more worthy compared to those in Kelantan.

Moon Cake Festival Celebration

Today we had our moon cake festival celebration organised by the first year chinese freshies. It was a traditional where all chinese freshies will join and organised this event. This year we prepared various performances such as traditional and modern dances, chinese orchestra, sketch, solo and for the first time ever in this campus, che- ling (chinese yoyo).

It turned out to be a success and more than 400 people turned out.

Buddhist Society Outing Camp

We went to Pantai Melawi, taking with us the traumatic experiences in Big Sib camp. But everything turned out fine. It was an enjoyable trip.

We had some sign language dance (手语) in the afternoon. At evening, we went to the beach and competed with other groups in building the most creative and attractive bridge and riverflow using the sand. This was my group's masterpiece.

At night, it was performance by each group around the campfire. Yeah it was quite a relaxing thing to do beside the beach, especially when you feel the breeze being blown onto your face with the whiff from the sea. Nice.

We had station game in the morning, which I truely enjoyed. The timing of the whole game was nearly perfect and hardly any delay happened. Bravo to the organising team.

Too bad no photos could be taken, since we were all soaked and creamed...

After that we had a egg- throwing game, where we were given an egg to be thrown into a pail filled with water from a level of 1 floor above it. No, we did not cook the intact egg later.

Drug

Few days before exam, this is my drug to keep me awake:

It was Arabica coffee powder given by my aunt's daughter. It was so powerful it kept me awake for the whole freaking night and until the afternoon of the next day. Pretty addictive. Anyone?

This usually appears at the last page of our notes, which is my favourite phrase.

Ya, it was quite a challenge to remain sane in here. But all of us are still doing fine! :)

Oh my! 10 days before our very first exam!

Everyone was like studying starting from sunrise until sunset, except during lunch and dinner time.

So just 2 weeks before our Selanjar 1 exam, the members of Big Sib (some seniors) came and told us thadt all of the medical student needs to attend a camp organise by them. What a great timing for us to relax, kononnya.

So we went there on 28th August oh- so- willingly, while still thinking of the 3- inches- thick notes awaiting.

Look at the tandas banjir. I could see outline of bathing people thru that pool. Ewww!

The first night we were asked to play some ice breaking games. Everyone was like: What? We knew each other already... Hello?

Then the next day we had some station game. Some idiotic games where we had to pick up as much newspaper as we could and eating some bread with salt and pepper. It was like a show and everyone including seniors was forced to attend this camp just because some 'upper orders'.

At night we had a talk from someone big in our campus. This was what happened after he talked for 2 hours non- stop.

The worst thing had yet to come. After the long boring talk, we were intrigued by a section named 'Transformer'. Some senior told us that it was a feedback section.

At 11pm, they told us that it means jungle- tracking.

So we tracked from 12am beginning in some rural village, then passed a river, then a short section of junlge/ mud hole, then some grassland with cow and horse, then we finally spent 2 hours walking on Pantai Cahaya Bulan just to reach the final check point.

Some jungle- tracking. So tracking that some people fainted on the romantic beach and was admitted to hospital.

Nobody said that they like this camp and all they wanted was a bus to go back campus on the last day.

No. Actually, it was just a plastinated specimen. The arm. The specimen was soaked in formalin for preservation. But too bad, after numerous examinations by previous students, many of the nerves and muscles were maimed and undiscernable.

How good if we can dissect cadaver... Heard that some students in other public U choose their own cadaver for dissection. Hmph.

This is a handphone decorative given by one of my favourite student, during Teacher's Day. She is a smart and diligent girl. How I wish that she is my little sister.

This little 1 GB pen drive was given by my sister for my usage in university.

These are all minor things in one's life, but I cannot help it. I am easily touched.

Went swimming with friends in 精武. The number of lanes there was uncountable, and you can swim as long as you like. And the water cleanness is considered OK also. Yeah it was better than the one in Bandar Tun Razak, better than the one in sports complex in Taman Tasik Permaisuri, and definitely better than this one:

Yes you are right. The only swimming public swimming pool in the whole Kelantan at which you can swim for only 1 hour and only at Fridays. And you are swimming with at least 20 people.

Honestly, I had never like to stroll in pasar malam. But since I went to that state, I actually look forward for the pasar malam nearby my house every Saturday.

Maybe the Kelantanese will refuse to go back to their hometown when they see this market. Ya lah, Connaught pasar malam is better lah. =p

So today I went back to the primary school at which I spent my darkest 6 months and I wished I work as a promoter instead.

Nah, it was not that bad actually. Look, this was the greeting that I received when I visited my previous working desk.

Oh my, I was so relieved not using that desk anymore.

Anyway, kids are still kids, my heart lighten a lot after I chatted with them. 3 of the girls even lamented to me about their problems in friendship. Their seriousness made me laughed, but I was pleased to be able to listen to their thoughts and give some advice, really.

One of my favourite class. Not exactly brilliant, but very smart. Their sharp minds and tongues will give you either endless surprises or extreme madness.

Painful exhibition

Some exhibition held by Sokka- Gakkai in an attempt of peace- making. The theme was anti- nuclear warfare and several pictures of the aftermath of nuclear detonation in Nagasaki and Hiroshima were displayed.

When I was small, I used to think that atom bombs were cool. I used to go and look out how atomic detonation occurs and asked question about critical mass etc.

One of the things least hoped when you are staying outside in a hostel is falling sick. That can be quite messy.

Might due to late night baths, or other unknown reasons, I had a bad fever since evening and it got worse at night. Walking properly was a challenge.

I thought I can made it to the morning without seeking help...

But I had to pay a visit to the Accident & Emergency Department in the end. And believe it or not, you better strive to live long enough to stand a chance to see a doctor there. Once you are classified as a Green Zone patient, they will make you wait until you forget the purpose of visiting them.

I had to tell them:" I need a doctor!", only then my name is called.

CF Welcoming Night

So Nursing block, as told by seniors, was a 'relaxing' and 'simple' block during which we wear white lab coat and fancy tie and visit and walk around various departments in the hospitals.

Dr. Othman Mansor, our lecturer once said:" You guys look so shiny and pretty now, wait till you go further and pimples and all sort of things will start coming from your face."

Proving him wrong? Easier said than done.

Today is few days after the start of Nursing block, and some medical personnel were invited to share their respective experiences.

In this field, one man show does not exist. Doctors need pharmacists to dispense drugs, raadiologist to handle medical imaging, physiotherapist to take care of impaired patients during their recovery, dietitian to give advices etc.

I like the library... From the day I started being a librarian, I never thought that a library can be that quiet.

But the good thing is the amount of books in this compound is huge. Especially academical references, you can get it all here.

Although what I see every time was messy collections on 'popular' shelves with nothing much left. Like these people have not read a book for centuries.

It was a quartet room. 4 desk with 2 double- deckers behind them.

So when your roommate walks past you, you have to shift your chair forward a little, or else your coffee will spill.

The hostel management said nothing regarding this.

Yes they did. They said that if you are not active enough in extra- curricular activities, you will be kicked out and forced to stay outside, instead of giving you another room like this.

Our class is super big! Around 360 first- year taking medicine and dentistry, including 80 repeats. Sometimes I wondered why shortage of medical personnel still happens with this kind of enrollment rate...

Actually we only went to KB Mall lah. This is a nice mall with branded items and everything under the sun...

You donate blood if you feel sick or burdened.

I donated blood.

Of orientation.

Which ended today.

Anyway this is my 1st time donating blood! *applause*

Finally! It was orientation closing ceremony! woo hoo~~

After the ceremony, we took photos and exchange numbers like there is no tomorrow... In this pretty confined Main Hall. Fun, heheh.

This is Kai Hui, our very sweet PPMS(pemimpin pelajar minggu suaikenal). Thanks to her, our orientation week became more refreshing and interesting(I guess)

So the one week you-don't-get-enough-sleep nonsensical orientation flew by...

Actually i should felt grateful, after being poured by those horrid orientation stories from people in UM, UPM, UKM etc. Heard that their handphones were confiscated, and they have to write their seniors' name for dunno-how-many times and bow to seniors when meet face to face blah blah blah......

Cut it, don't they have any better ideas? Like asking juniors to wash their underwear. Opps, that happened already... according to my Mathematics teacher in form 6.

The plane reached Kota Bharu in the morning, and we went to the area in front of Nurani hostel to register. It was literally crowded...

Every freshies were trying to register and start their journey as a freshmen. It was hot, sweaty, and exciting, really. For that moment, at least.

My handphone blasted the music 50 cents- You don't know as my ringtone.

Felt super cool and proud to register as a medical student, only because i haven't realised what is installed for me in the future. Haha.

Today we will depart to Kelantan (or, Kelate, as pronounced by local Kelantanese). What is awaiting?

Honestly, I never felt happy for a single day during my service as a temporary teacher, except for teachers' day and holidays, haha. Well, let it be. Let those days be froze forever in my memory. Those were good experience, actually.

Actually... I've procrastinated for 3 full months for the birth of this blog...
Ever since I found that I'm enrolled into USM, I had wanted to write this blog, to mark down my daily walks and path of life... But all those nonsense and hectic tempo in the campus ACTUALLY prevented me from doing so!
So, it's quite a feat for me to vomit everything happened in the past 3 months in this afternoon. (Actually, it is 30th September 2008, 6.15pm now).
Anyway, I'll try my best! :)
